David Yates was born November 30, 1963 in St Helens, Merseyside, England, United Kingdom. He is now 47 years old and married to Yvonne Walcott. Yates is an English director of film and television, best known for directing the famous series of Harry Potter film. Because of the first two films of Yates Order of the Phoenix and Half-Blood Prince, it received the highest-grossing entries in the series after the first installment, which was later exceed Deathly Hallows, bringing him to the top and making him as the most commercially successful British director in the recent time, and because of the film Harry Potter, he gained the 2011 BAFTA Britannia Award for Excellence in Directing; and through his work, he is the only director to win such an accolade for his work. Yates revealed that he has ambitions to develop a war-drama film called St. Nazaire and has stated that he has “so many scripts piled up” that are a part of his potential upcoming projects. Because of his works, he achieved international attention for his award-winning short films which led to him becoming a prolific television director with credits including the BBC costume drama “The Way We Live Now”. Yates works have displayed realism, political and social themes and his use of hand-held cameras is noted as one of his directorial trademarks.
